Adventures of a Night Club Hunting Gang and a Silly Girl with her Black Boots

Last Saturday was one of the guy's, Kyle, 22nd birthday.  He wanted to go to a jazz club but the one he wanted was closed due to a private party being held there that evening. Also, jazz clubs are cool to go to unless it is on a Sunday or Monday night...that idea was shot down really fast.  So we found this club called Astoria it is on Leicester Square.  It was a cool placed that played really fun 80's music!...which is always good to dance to :D!!!! So that day I went in search of some black boots that I could wear and so I could stop borrowing my friends.  Well, I found this really cool pare at Oxfam - think goodwill.  These black boots are cowboy style with a heel....and silly me i wore them out that night.  So we go out, we have fun at the club, then we take the Night bus back to the flats.
When we get off at our stop my feet were hurting really really bad, so doing the logical thing I, Ashley, take off my boots to walk the little bit to the flat.  Not a bright idea at all!!! somewhere between taking my boots off and walking in the front door of the apartment building I manage to cut the bottom of my foot! Oh and it is bleeding like I have never seen before! So after making it all the way up to the attic were I live, I hobble into the bathroom and run hot water over it and try to get it to stop bleeding, which I do pretty quickly.  Then I walked on it and it starts bleeding yet again..gravity gotta love it! so i get that to stop and I go to bed...oh and i never felt anything cut me.

Next morning the heel is to sore to walk on so I walk around the flat on the ball of my right foot all day.  Finally around five/six i go to soak it in the tub and to clean it up.  Once I get all the dry blood off from around it i think i see something in it.  Sooo...I get out and ask if anyone can help me and my flatmates are eating dinner and say sure just let us finish...i say okay and sit on the couch.  I then feel my foot is kinda wet.  The cut has started bleeding yet again.  So we decided that I should go to the walk-in-clinic/ER.  we get there and i get called back probably 45 mins after I have arrived...not bad.  They take x-rays to make sure that there is nothing in the cut, which there was not, and they seal the wound with glue stuff and bandage it and they tell me I cant walk on it for another 24 hrs. so no class tomorrow.  So I finally leave and 1.5hrs after we (Sadie, Emily, and Liz came with me) came...not bad!

Moral of the story don't take your boots off until you have entered the front door of your apartment building!

AND..... since next week is fall break there wont be a post for a while...i really don't want to lug my laptop around Italy and it might break, which would not be good and then i would be sad :( BUT i will take my journal SO i can keep track of all the things that I do! the good, the bad, and the ugly!

love ya MMMUUUAAHH!

Oxford!

Hey all!

So this past Friday I went to Oxford with the group! It was so cold: 49 degrees cold!!!! and for the rest of the week it is going to be low 60's high 50's....brrr and this is only October!!!! at least I have me coat now!!! :D

Anyway back in Oxford....we took a tour around the city and went to some of the different colleges that comprise Oxford University like: Christ Church ( were some of the 1st Harry Potter movie was filmed) and where Lewis Carroll - he wrote Alice in Wonderland andThrough the Looking Glass - taught! As we continued to walk we past by the school where J.R.R. Tolkien taught and where C.S. Lewis taught at as well.

Christ Church College founded by Cardinal Wolsey - yes the one that was during the time of Henry VIII! Not only that but this is where Lewis Carroll lived with his family and taught... his daughter Alice was his inspiration for Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass!

Merlton - J.R.R. Tolkien taught here!

The beginning of the Golden Compass was shot here at Essex ( i think that is the name) College - it is where Lyria lived!

sorry about it being sideways! but this is Magdalene - pronounced Maudlin - this is where C.S. Lewis taught! in fact when you walk into the school there are all of these statues and one is Mr. Thomnas (?) the Faun! and other characters - i actually didn't go there i just saw it from a distance the same with Merlton.

Oxford is a very lovely place!  You have the bustling town center on one hand and then one the other you have these big meadows where there is a very outside of a town feel.  Then we went to the Turf Tavern where supposedly Bill Clinton inhaled illegal substances.

After Lunch we went to Christ Church to tour it!

The quadrangle - it is all of the student and faculty housing.

The steps in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, when they first arrive at Hogwarts before entering into the Great Hall!

Me Standing on the Steps!!!!!!!!!

What the modeled the dinning hall after in Harry Potter!

Look! it is Henry and Elizabeth... being in the presence of originals is mind blowing!

After touring Christ Church College, I made my way over to Alice's Shop where all things having to do with Lewis Carroll and Alice stories are sold at ridiculous pricing! I came out with two things a book of his complete works and a present for Mar! Then I made my way back out- having to make it through a sea of pushy Chinese tourist-  to find Lisa, Jen, and Ruth who I was with after the touring of C.C.C. and we walked back to the coach to go back to London!

The next post will be from Italy!!! hurrah for fall break!!!!!!

Love y'all tons and bunches!
